Today I am a "Prayer Bead Maker,"
and I love this work. In the past I've been a single mother, a student, a waitress, a high school art teacher. I've been an
art therapist, a pastoral counselor and mental health counselor. Every step has led me to here.
My love for prayer beads, and my practice of silent prayer, is a direct gift from my Grandmother, who prayed "for
the whole world," as she would say in her lovely Italian accent. Teaching me to pray without words, Grandma lent me her peaceful
place, a place I still aspire to be in today. Ti voglio bene, Marietta!

My
father, saxophonist Charlie Mariano, was also an inspiration for me to find the richness in silence. When not immersed in
his world of Jazz he was loving dad, teaching moral and wisdom lessons and a quiet spirituality. When words didn't say it,
silence did. Rest in peace, my Dad. <><
